Bird-radio exercise
The participants have radios or mobile phones and practise partly seeing the characteristics of certain birds and partly quick, precise communication.
A number of bird cards are hung up in an area of the wood and a group is split up into 1-2 people as base and the rest as a field team. The field team finds the birds in the field and describes them through the radio to base, who have a bird book. The field team are not allowed to mentions the bird’s name if they know it.
The group determines bird species as fast as possible and competes with the other groups.
